Helping Teens Build Confidence from the Inside Out

LIFE COACH. FOSTER MOM. YOUTH LEADER. MOM OF THREE.

Hi, I’m Sharon West—confidence coach, teen mentor, and the creator of Connected & Skilled.

For the last 15+ years, I’ve had the honor of working with teens in a variety of roles—as a life coach, foster mom, youth leader, and most importantly, as a mom of three. I know firsthand the challenges teens face as they try to figure out who they are, where they belong, and how to believe in themselves in a world that often tells them they’re not enough.

That’s why I created Connected & Skilled. This program is where teens not only gain lifelong confidence-building skills, but also connect with other teens who are on the same journey. This is more than just a program; it’s a safe, empowering space where teens learn how to speak up, trust themselves, navigate challenges, and build meaningful relationships.

I believe confidence isn’t something you're born with—it’s a skill, and like any skill, it can be learned and strengthened with the right tools, practice, and support. And that’s exactly what I provide. Through real-time coaching, practical tools, and engaging activities, I guide teens step by step to discover who they are and how they want to show up in the world.

FAQ

1. Who is Connected & Skilled for?

This program is designed for teens (typically ages 11–17) who are ready to grow their confidence, learn life skills, and build meaningful connections with peers in a supportive, judgment-free environment.

2. How does the program work?

The program runs over five months, with two in-person group activities per month. In addition, your teen will receive a one-on-one session each month with a certified teen confidence coach!

3. What if my teen can’t make a session?

We get it—life happens. While the magic is in showing up in person, if your teen is not able to attend a session, your teen can still receive any supplies provided for the missed session. Coaching topics missed during group sessions can be reviewed during 1:1 sessions.

4. Is this program therapy?

No. Connected & Skilled is a coaching and skills-based program, not therapy. While it is personal growth-focused and highly supportive, it is not a replacement for mental health treatment. Teens with mental health concerns are welcome to join, in addition to professional support.

5. Will my teen feel comfortable participating?

Creating a safe and welcoming space is my top priority. Teens aren’t forced to share or participate until they’re ready. I specialize in making them feel seen, heard, and accepted—so even the quiet ones find their voice here.

6. Can I (the parent) be involved?

This program is for your teen—but I’ll keep you in the loop! You’ll receive short monthly updates and encouragement so you can support what your teen is learning at home, without taking over their experience.

7. How do I know this is worth the investment?

You’re not just signing up for a program—you’re giving your teen tools, support, and relationships that can positively impact the rest of their life. If your teen walks away more confident, more connected, and more capable of handling what life throws at them—that’s a powerful return.

8. What if my teen has a diagnosis?

Absolutely—your teen is welcome here. The nature of the Connected and Skilled program is designed to offer a flexible, supportive environment where teens can participate in ways that feel most comfortable to them. Whether your teen needs more time to respond or wants to observe before participating, we make room for individual needs. This format allows teens with various diagnoses to feel safe, respected, and empowered as they build confidence and life skills at their own pace.

9. What if my teen is already in therapy—can they still benefit from this program?

Yes! This program works beautifully alongside therapy. While therapy often focuses on healing and mental health, Connected and Skilled is about learning practical life and confidence-building skills in a positive, proactive setting. Many teens find that what they learn here enhances what they're working on in therapy—helping them apply insights to real-world situations, grow their self-esteem, and connect more meaningfully with others.
